Bereavement Ministry
The volunteers in this ministry extend assistance and support to parishioners who have had a death in their immediate family. Volunteers send sympathy cards, call the bereaved family, and mail booklets and articles to provide comfort and information that may be helpful during the grief period.

Bereavement Support Group
Through sharing with one another and presentations from outside speakers, participants receive emotional support. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room and are open to anyone mourning the death of a loved one.

Communications Ministry
Volunteers are needed to video, photograph and write brief articles about Parish events, ministries, and anything else that may be of interest to parishioners. Media may take the form of a newsletter, e-newsletter, or news on the parish website.

Divorce Support Group
The Divorce and Beyond program, a 10 session program based on the book Divorce and Beyond, by James Greteman, Leon Haverkamp, and Elsie Radtke, is presented annually on Wednesdays from the end of February through the middle of May with breaks for Ash Wednesday and Holy Week. By reading the material and sharing with one another, the participants begin to work through the grief, anger and stress of the divorce process. Group size is limited to 15 and registration is required.

Food Ministry
Volunteers in this ministry share in the monthly distribution of food to the needy of our community. Each church is scheduled twice a year. Saint Vincent Parish sends volunteers on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 3:45 – 5:30 p.m. for the Fresh Express Program at Prince of Peace Church in Latrobe and Tuesday, January 24, 2013 from 8:00 – 11:30 a.m. for the Food Pantry at Saint Vincent Grove. There are also opportunities to help in the Hunger Garden in Madison, with a feeding program in Latrobe and taking food from monthly food drives to the food pantry.

Funeral Lunches
This ministry for parishioners who have had a death in the immediate family, makes arrangements and sets up the Grove for luncheons that usually take place after a funeral for the family and friends of the deceased.

Health Ministry
This ministry in formation is seeking volunteers willing to share a professional health perspective. Speaking annually or semi-annually to inform parishioners of current health topics, sponsoring a Walk to Bethlehem and/or Jerusalem, conducting monthly blood pressure screenings for parishioners and/or conducting an annual or semi-annual wellness fair are some ideas for services that this ministry could provide.

Hospital Visitation Ministry
Volunteers in this ministry visit hospitalized parishioners. This ministry is designed to bring comfort in prayer to those visited.

Knitting and Crochet Ministry
Our ministry members knit and crochet items for our shut-ins, people in local nursing homes and newly baptized babies. Workshops for 2012 are scheduled for Sundays, 2-4 p.m, : May 6, June 3, July 1, Aug. 5, Sep. 9, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m.: May 15, June 19, July 17, Aug. 21, Sep 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20. The workshops provide an opportunity for those who wish to participate to learn how to knit or crochet and for those who already know how, to fellowship with one another.

Ministers of Care
Volunteers visit or telephone the homebound, ill, or elderly. They may also bring the Eucharist if requested in advance. This ministry is designed to bring care, concern, and the good will of Saint Vincent Parish to those visited. They also bring the Eucharist to Catholic residents of Mountain View Specialty Care Center on Tuesday mornings. Volunteers that bring the Eucharist must be approved and commissioned by the Pastor as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist and all need to be able to obtain PA State Police clearance.

Nursing Home Eucharistic Ministry
The volunteers in this ministry bring the Eucharist to our brothers and sisters residing in nursing homes within our community. This usually occurs after the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Volunteers must be approved and commissioned by the Pastor as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist and be able to obtain PA State Police clearance.

Transportation Ministry
Volunteers in this ministry provide transportation to Sunday Parish Masses (9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.) and/or parish activities. Volunteers must have current auto insurance and a current driver’s license.
