Below are brief descriptions of some of the parish ministries. For more information on the parish social ministries program call 724-539-8629.
Adult Choir - Adult singers willing to share their vocal talents with others in a choir which provides and leads the music at the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Mass as well as for special liturgical celebrations. The choir is under professional direction and meets regularly for rehearsals.
Adult Education Committee - This ministry supports and promotes a variety of opportunities for adults to grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with Christ and His Church through: Parish Renewal Programs, Advent and Lenten Speaker Series, periodic educationn programs that lead to a fuller understanding of our Christian beliefs, tradition, lifestyle and call to missionn, Bible Study, Saint Vincent College Department of Theology Speaker Series, "Little Black Book" (daily reflection book for Lent), and Spritual Book of the Month Club.
Altar Serviers - This ministry is for male and female individuals who assist at the litirgucal celebrations of the Parish, particularly the celebrations of the Eucharist. Individuals are needed at the following celebrations: funerals, Sundays and weddings, and weekdays.
Baptism Formation for Parents - This ministry allows parents an opportunity to gather in order to renew their understanding of the sacrament of Baptism and explore ways to share their faith with their children. Godparents are encouraged to attend as well. Sessions are offered on a bi-monthly basis and meet in the Parish Conferencr Room. Preparation is required.
Bereavement Services - The volunteers in this ministry extend assistance and support to parishioners who have had a death in their immediate family. Volunteers send sympathy cards, and visit the bereaved family to provide comfort and information that may be helpful during the grief period.
Children's Faith Formation - Formerly known as CCD, Children's Faith Formation offers Parish children (Kindergarten through Grade 5) the opportunity to become familiar with Scripture, the teaching of the Church, our customs and traditions, our prayer life and service to others.
Emergency Home Help - This ministry is designed to provide temporary meal preparation and light housekeeping for those who may have returned home from the hospital and are unable to perform these tasks.
Eucharistic Ministers - Trained and commissioned women and men who assist with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at Eucharistic celebrations.
Funeral Luncheons - This ministry centers its attention on parishioners who have had a death in the immediate family. The ministry makes arrangements and sets up the Grove for luncheons for the family and friends of the deceased that usually takes place after a funeral.
Hospital Visitation - The volunteers will visit and/or send cards to hospitalized parishioners. This ministry is designed to bring comfort in prayer to those visited.
Meals on Wheels - In cooperation with this Latrobe community based social service program that provides meals to those in need, our volunteers will make sandwiches and assemble bag lunches twice a year.
Ministers of Care - Volunteers visit or telephone the homebound, ill or elderly. This ministry is designed to bring care, concern and the good will of Saint Vincent Parish to those visited.
Nursing Home Eucharistic Services - The volunteers in this ministry take the Eucharist to our brothers and sisters residing in nursing homes within our community each Sunday after 9:30 a.m. Mass.
Saint Vincent de Paul - The volunteers in this ministry will work as sales associates at the Saint Vincent de Paul store, as well as sorting, tagging and shelving merchandise.
Shopping Services - This ministry is designed to provide shopping services for shut-ins, or to provide transportation for and assistance with their shopping needs.
Transportation - The ministry provides for those in need of transportation to Mass and/or parish activities, attend doctor's appointments or take care of other urgent needs.
